看著辦

“看著辦”的意思是“按照某人覺得合適的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)做事”,可以用act as one sees fit表示。

The boss asked John to act as he saw fit.

老板讓約翰自己看著辦。

我應(yīng)該怎么做?

B:I have no idea.Just act as you see fit.

“看著辦”還可以表達(dá)為play it by ear

比如:

干杯

“干杯”可不能直譯為dry glass,這個(gè)詞用在祝酒時(shí),表示“一飲而盡”。人們喝完了整杯酒之后經(jīng)常把杯子倒過來,讓杯口朝下,以示杯中的酒喝光了,所以可用bottoms up表示“干杯”。

enterprising[?ent?praz?]可以表示“有進(jìn)取心的”

臭罵

“臭罵”和“臭”(smelly)沒什么關(guān)系,這個(gè)詞的實(shí)際意思是“嚴(yán)厲地責(zé)備”,可以用give sb.a tongue-lashing表示,其中tongue-lashing的意思是“斥責(zé)”。

Jack was in blue,because his boss gave him a tongue-lashing just now.

杰克很郁悶,因?yàn)槔习鍎倓偝袅R了他一頓。

A:Why do you look gloomy today?

你今天怎么看起來很郁悶啊?
