These days the idea of ‘suspended coffee has been spreading to coffee shops around the world. It has been around for years, but lately thanks to social media it has been spreading.

The idea is very simple. When you are at a coffee shop, you order an extra coffee and ask to let it be suspended. This extra drink is given to someone who cannot afford it later.

Suspending coffees started in Naples, Italy a decade ago . The current interest in it can be traced back to a particular photo posted on Facebook this spring. It shows a man in unfortunate circumstances enjoying a warm beverage paid for by someone else. This one photo moved a lot of people and started a worldwide movement. Now coffee shops all over the world have started suspending. Will your coffee shop be next?
