75　as well as和as good as

① as well as表示“等于，一樣好”（equally with，no less than）。

He has understanding as well as you. 他的理解力和你的一樣好。

② as well as相當于both…and，not only…but also，表示“既……又，除……之外（還）”。as well as同not only…but also換用時，要注意其側重點不同。as well as側重前項，而not only…but also側重后項。所以，如果把as well as換為not only…but also，就應將這兩個連詞短語連接的名詞互換位置。

It is a political as well as an economic question. 這不僅是一個經濟問題，更是一個政治問題。

She did a little research as well as made a lot of experiments. 她不僅做很多試驗，還做一些研究工作。

She plays the piano as well as sings. 她不僅會唱歌，而且會彈鋼琴。

③ as well as…not前后都否定，not as well as則否定前者，肯定后者。

John has not yet read the book as well as Mary. 約翰還沒有讀過那本書，但瑪麗已讀過。

He，as well as you，will not go. 你將不去，他也將不去。（兩者均否定）

He will not go as well as you. 你將去，但他將不去。（否定前者，肯定后者）

You helped her，as well as I. 不但我?guī)椭怂?，你也幫助了她?/p>

You helped her as well as me. 你不但幫助了我，也幫助了她。

④ as well as替代better than，意為“與其……不如……”。

⑤ as well as可用作復合介詞，表示“除了……之外還……”，相當于besides，可接名詞或動名詞。

⑥ as well as連接兩個不定式時，第一個不定式帶to，第二個不定式不帶to。

⑧ as good as意為①“等于，同樣”（amounting to，not falling short of）；②“實際上，其實”（actually，in fact，virtually）。

Everything was as good as settled. 一切準備工作幾乎已經做好了。
