Smooth it slides upon its travel,	河面平滑，河水靜靜流，
Here a wimple, there a gleam— -	這兒浪一閃，那兒水一皺——
O the clean gravel !	啊，光潔的石頭!
O the smooth stream !	啊，平靜的溪流!
Sailing blossoms, silver fishes,	落花掛帆漂，銀魚(yú)兒水里跳，
Paven pools as clear as air— -	池塘平如鏡，清水天空照——
How a child wishes	啊，孩子這樣想?。?/td>
To live down there !	住在那里有多好!
We can see our coloured faces	我們能看見(jiàn)自己的紅臉龐，
Floating on the shaken pool	池面在搖晃，臉龐在動(dòng)蕩，
Down in cool places,	動(dòng)蕩在幽暗、清涼
Dim and very cool;	而又安靜的地方;
Till a wind or water wrinkle,	過(guò)來(lái)一陣風(fēng)，吹皺一池水，
Dipping marten, plumping trout,	貂兒一身濕，鱒魚(yú)竄浪飛，
Spreads in a twinkle	水紋在擴(kuò)散，只一會(huì)兒，
And blots all out.	波平浪靜風(fēng)不吹。
See the rings pursue each other;	瞧水圈一個(gè)把一個(gè)來(lái)追;
All below grows black as night,	河底下象夜晚一般漆黑，
Just as if mother	正像媽媽吹滅了
Had blown out the light	一支蠟燭的光輝!
Patience, children, just a minute	孩子們，再等一分鐘時(shí)光——
See the spreading circles die;	那擴(kuò)散的水圈兒就會(huì)消亡;
The stream and all in it	溪水和水里的一切
Will clear by-and-by	會(huì)重新清澈明亮。
