雙語(yǔ)詩(shī)歌翻譯|周敦頤·《愛(ài)蓮說(shuō)》

《愛(ài)蓮說(shuō)》是北宋理學(xué)家周敦頤創(chuàng)做的一篇散文。這篇文章通過(guò)對(duì)蓮的形象和品質(zhì)的描寫(xiě)，歌頌了蓮花堅(jiān)貞的品格，從而也表現(xiàn)了作者潔身自愛(ài)的高潔人格和灑落的胸襟。

水陸草木之花，可愛(ài)者甚蕃。晉陶淵明獨(dú)愛(ài)菊；自李唐來(lái)，世人盛愛(ài)牡丹；予獨(dú)愛(ài)蓮之出淤泥而不染，濯清漣而不妖，中通外直，不蔓不枝，香遠(yuǎn)益清，亭亭靜植，可遠(yuǎn)觀而不可褻玩焉。

予謂菊，花之隱逸者也；牡丹，花之富貴者也；蓮，花之君子者也。噫！菊之愛(ài)，陶后鮮有聞；蓮之愛(ài)，同予者何人？牡丹之愛(ài)，宜乎眾矣。

Love of Water-lily

Lovers offlowering plants and shrubs we have had by scores, but Tao Qian alone devotedhimself to the chrysanthemum. Since the opening days of the Tang dynasty, ithas been fashionable to admire the peony; but my favourite is the water-lily.How stainless it rises from its slimy bed! How modestly it reposes on the clearpool — an emblem of purity and truth! Symmetrically perfect, its subtle perfumeis wafted far and wide, while there it rests in spotless state, something to beregarded reverently from a distance, and not be profaned by familiar approach.

In my opinionthe chrysanthemum is the flower of retirement and culture; the peony the flowerof rank and wealth; the water-lily, the Lady Virtue sans pareille.

Alas! few haveloved the chrysanthemum since Tao Qian, and none love the water-lily likemyself, whereas the peony is a general favourite with all mankind.
