蕤賓五月中，清朝起南飔。
不駛亦不遲，飄飄吹我衣。
重云蔽白日，閑雨紛微微。
流目視西園，曄曄榮紫葵。
于今甚可愛，奈何當(dāng)復(fù)衰。
感物愿及時(shí)，每恨靡所揮。
悠悠待秋稼，寥落將賒遲。
逸想不可淹，猖狂獨(dú)長(zhǎng)悲。

Soft and mild the note of this midsummer south:
In the clear morning a cool south wind blows.
It passes at an even pace; and gently
My garment is made to flutter, flutter.
Soon the sun, disappearing behind thick clouds,
A leisurely rain begins to fall in drizzles.

I cast my gaze to the western garden
Where I see the purple mallows in full glory;
How lovely they look this passing day,
But by tomorrow, faded they will be and gone!

Nature changes. I wish to follow close;
Too often I’ve found myself short of wine.
Should I wait idly for the autumn harvest,
Desolation will overtake my lazy steps.

Oh my rising thoughts never to be quenched,
And this soul of mine will forever cry woe!
