David：What is China’s pharmaceutical industry like? 中國(guó)的醫(yī)藥業(yè)怎么樣？

You：In the past fifty years, China’s pharmaceutical industry has grown from nothing into a booming industry. When the PRC

was established in 1949, China’s basic pharmaceutical industries were very weak. 在過(guò)去的50年里，中國(guó)的醫(yī)藥業(yè)實(shí)現(xiàn)了從低潮到繁

榮的轉(zhuǎn)變。盡管1949年建國(guó)時(shí)，中國(guó)的醫(yī)藥業(yè)還都十分薄弱。

David：The entire pharmaceutical industry? 你是在說(shuō)整個(gè)醫(yī)藥行業(yè)嗎？

You：Yes, and now China has achieved an important position in the world market as a supplier of raw materials for

David：What do you mean? 怎么講？

You：I mean that many multi national companies depend on China for raw materials, and China has cornered about 30% of the

You：Not exactly. In the first thirty years, China’s economy was not open to Western countries. But since the 1980’s, in the
