一、表語從句的連接詞

1.從屬連詞that引導的表語從句

The trouble is that I have lost his address.麻煩的是我把他的地址弄丟了。

The fact is that he doesn’t really try.事實是他沒有做真正的努力。

2.從屬連詞whether引導的表語從句

The question is whether we can catch the early bus.問題在于我們是否能趕上早班車。

What they want to know is whether he is capable of holding that important post.

他們想知道的是他是否有能力保住那一重要職位。

3.連接代詞和連接副詞引導的表語從句

This is what we want.這正是我們所需要的。

The problem is who can complete the difficult task.問題是誰能完成這項困難的任務。

That is why she had a day off yesterday.這就是她昨天請一天假的原因。

The problem is where we should stay.問題是我們應該呆在哪里。

【提示】

①That’s because ...意為“這是因為……”，強調(diào)原因。

That’s because he didn’t understand me.那是因為他沒有理解我。

②That’s why ...意為“這是為什么……”，強調(diào)結(jié)果。

That’s why he got angry with me.那正是他對我生氣的原因。

③The reason （why ...）is that ...意為“原因是……”。

The reason why I got angry with me was that he didn’t understand me.

我難過的原因就是他不理解我。（why引導的定語從句）

4.從屬連詞as，as if/as though引導的表語從句

Things are not always as they seem to be.事物并不總是如其表象。

He looks as if/as though he’s tired.他好像累了。
