第一章概說 詞類的轉換

　　1.某些動詞可以轉換為名詞：

　　Try the shirt on.

　　穿上這件襯衫試試。(v.)

　　Let me have a try.

　　我來試一試。(n.)

　　Look at me.

　　瞧著我。(v.)

　　Let me have a look.

　　我來瞧瞧。(n.)

　　2.某些名詞也可轉換為動詞:

　　Open your books.

　　打開你的書。(n.)

　　Have you booked your ticket?

　　你訂票了嗎?(v.)

　　Have a seat.

　　請坐。(n.)

　　The hall seats 500 (people).

　　大廳可以坐500 人。(v.)

　　3.某些形容詞可以轉換為動詞：

　　You are too slow.

　　你太慢了。(adj.)

　　The train has slowed down.

　　火車慢下來了。(v.)

　　It's warm in spring.

　　春天天氣暖和。(adj.)

　　They warmed their hands over the fire.

　　他們在爐火上烤手。(v.)

　　4.也有些形容詞可轉換為名詞：

　　He is my dear friend.

　　他是我親密的朋友。(adj.)

　　She's a dear.

　　她是一個招人喜歡的人。(n.)

　　Prices here are very low.

　　這里的物價很低。(adj.)

　　Profits have reached a new low.

　　利潤降到了最低點。(n.)

　　5.有些詞用作其他詞類時重音會發(fā)生變化：

　　Everybody present welcome the decision.

　　所有在場的人都歡迎這個決定。

　　The National Theatre is presenting a new production of Hamlet.

　　國家劇場正在上演新的哈姆雷特。
