How are you，my friend?one man asked another.

As well as can be expected， came the reply.

和預(yù)計(jì)的差不多。他回答。

And how is the sun，do you think?

太陽(yáng)怎么樣，你覺(jué)得?

I thought he looked rather feverish this morning.I'm afraidhe'll get too hot and destroy himself one day，if he goes on like this.

我覺(jué)得今天早上他看起來(lái)有點(diǎn)發(fā)燒。如果繼續(xù)下去，我擔(dān)心他有朝一日會(huì)太燙而毀了自己。

I know，it's very worrying.And what about the earth?It's only thirty years until the next fallingstar comes this way， and the earth was very nearly destroyed by the last one!

我知道，他確實(shí)令人擔(dān)心，地球怎么樣?只有30年下一個(gè)流星就會(huì)掉過(guò)來(lái)，而上次差點(diǎn)把地球都?xì)缌?

That's right.We know that the next falling star is almost certain to get too close to the sun，andcatch fire!And when the earth passes through that fire，it'll be destroyed immediately!

對(duì)，我們知道下一個(gè)掉下來(lái)的星星幾乎肯定會(huì)與太陽(yáng)靠得太近而著火。地球從火中穿過(guò)就會(huì)立即被摧毀!

Only thirty years!That's not much to look forward to，is it?And the two men shook their headssadly. After several months on the island，I asked if I could visit the country underneath us.

The most interesting place I saw there was the university，which was full of very clever men，withvery clever ideas.

They were all working hard to find better，faster，cheaper，easier ways of doing and makingthings.

They had ideas for building houses from the roof downwards，turning rocks into softmaterial，making rivers run uphill，and saving sunshine in bottles.

他們的主意有從屋頂向下建造房屋，把石頭變成軟物質(zhì)、讓河流上山坡、把陽(yáng)光儲(chǔ)蓄在瓶子里。

格列佛回家不久，就隨“冒險(xiǎn)號(hào)”再次出海，不幸又遇上風(fēng)暴，船被刮到布羅卜丁內(nèi)格(大人國(guó))。格列佛被一位高達(dá)20米的農(nóng)民捉住。
